This policy explains how the Charlie's Phone app ("the App," "we," "us") handles information. Because the App is designed for young children, we have built it to collect as little information as technically possible.
We do not collect, request, transmit, or store on any server your child's name, birthdate, email, phone number, location, or any other personal information. The App does not require an account or login. Nothing your child does in the App is ever sent to us or to anyone else. The App does not use your device's microphone or location.
The Fun House lets your child see themselves on the screen with playful filters, like a funhouse mirror. The camera image is shown live only. Nothing is ever photographed, saved, recorded, uploaded, or shared, and the App includes no button to save a picture. The moment your child leaves the Fun House, the camera turns off. Because no image is ever captured or transmitted, we never receive or store any picture or video of your child.
A grown-up can add the people your child loves to the Contacts app, using only a name and a photo, so your child can recognize and tap on familiar faces. These contacts are stored only on your own device. They include no phone numbers and cannot be used to make real calls or send real messages. This information is never transmitted to us or anyone else, and you can remove any contact at any time.
The App is a self-contained, "sandbox" experience. The phone, messaging, and other features inside the App are pretend and stay entirely within the App. Your child cannot browse the web, contact strangers, make real calls, or send real texts from the App.
The App contains no third-party advertising, no ad networks, and no in-app purchase prompts shown to children. We do not use tracking or analytics tools that profile your child.
To power the Parent Dashboard, the App keeps a small record on your own device. For example, how many messages were typed to Charlie, how many activities were completed, and the text of recent in-app messages. This information stays on your device, is visible only through the parent-protected dashboard, and is never transmitted to us or any third party. You can clear it at any time using the "Reset Today's Activity" button.
We take children's privacy seriously and have designed the App to comply with the principles of the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). Everything the App does, including the live Fun House camera and any contacts a grown-up adds, happens on your device and is never transmitted to us. Because the App collects no personal information from children and sends no data off the device, there is no personal data for us to use, share, or sell.
Since the App does not send information to any server, there is no online account or database that could be breached. Information created during play remains on the device you are using.
